The Westwell Community Centre lies at the heart of the village of Westwell, near Ashford in Kent. The grounds of the community centre are well used and include football pitches and a children’s play park. One problem however, that often arises, is the issue of parking. Much of the ground surrounding the main building is grass. And, in the autumn and winter months (rainy season!), the area can become extremely boggy and hazardous for vehicles and pedestrian access.
Chairman of Westfield PFA, Ron Butcher, contacted Duramat UK to seek a solution to the parking problems at the community centre. He explained the need for a temporary parking solution at the site to prevent the grass area becoming boggy during the wet months. Duramat were only too happy to help and sent a team to survey the area, along with samples of the DuraPark ground protection parking mat, a mat often used in soft ground situations. Upon seeing the mat sample and speaking with the team, the centre proceeded with the order for 550 square metres of DuraPark soft ground matting to cover the poarking area, in time for the wet season.
When asked if pleased with the results, Mr Butcher said:
“The DuraPark mat is exactly what were looking for and the team at Duramat UK were extremely professional from start to finish.”

As well as providing stability in soft ground areas, the DuraPark mat by Duramat UK is designed to allow grass to grow through over time, creating an even stronger bond to the ground as well as partially hiding the mat.
The mats have a ‘stickle brick’ surface for extra grip and can support light to medium vehicles, making them the ideal choice for temporary ground mats at events and locations where permanent solutions are not possible.
Duramat UK supplied over 2000 DuraPark grass parking mats together with over 5000 stabilising pins, plus fitting over 3 consecutive days.
